Do we have what it takes?
I read something interesting today about why, in spite of the massive technology progress over the last decades, the space race has stalled. It had to do with having lowered our risk acceptance to a point where the potential hazards involved in such an endevour are simply unacceptable. We cannot live with the odds of failure that the space pioneers lived with, the real possibility of fatalities and disaster. We favour a highly doctored routine, a staged, virtual reality to a pioneering spirit
